Looking for ways to help

There are a variety of ways to support and help Veterans, their families and VFW Post 9949. Here are a few choices:

1, Visit a Veteran: If you know a Veteran, then, occasionally stop by and say “Hello” and “How are you doing?” Often our aging Veteran population has a more challenging time of getting out and socializing with people. A simple conversation knowing that they are not forgotten is a super way to help these Vets and their family members too. Don’t know any Veterans? You can come join us monthly as our VFW Post visits over 80 Veterans, Veteran Spouses and Veteran’s Widows at four local care facilities. Usually these VFW Veteran Visits (V3) happen the third Thursday each month during the afternoon. Contact the V3 Coordinator listed on the “Contact Us” page for more details.

2, Attend events: Peachtree City and Fayette County GA offer many patriotic events and celebrations that help in honoring our nation and our Veterans throughout the year. From Memorial Day observances, 4th of July Golf Cart parades, Veterans Day ceremonies, etc… there are many ways to be present and show support to local Veterans organizations.

3, Wear Buddy Poppies: After World War I, in the USA (mostly due to hard work of Molina Bell Michael-know as the “Poppy Lady”) the wearing of red buddy poppies became a symbol of support for Veterans who sacrificed so much for their country. VFW Post 9949 distributes free Buddy Poppies outside major stores, markets and in a local thrift store during Memorial Day and Veterans Day holidays. Plus, Buddy Poppies are available year round at Mimi’s restaurant in Peachtree City. The Buddy Poppies are free but often citizens choose to donate money at these sites. They know that the proceeds benefit the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ Veterans Assistance programs.

4, Direct donations: Finally, if you would like to contribute funds directly to VFW Post 9949, checks can be mailed to: VFW Post 9949, ATTN: Quartermaster, P.O. Box 2667, Peachtree City, GA 30269

Checks should be made out to “VFW Post 9949.” VFW Post 9949 is registered with the Georgia Secretary of State as a “Domestic Nonprofit Corporation.”

We hope that at least one of the above options will work for you…and if it does…THANK YOU! from the members of VFW Post 9949 and all the Veterans and their families you support.
